Meet Remington Dean. Former Texas Ranger, he now solves crimes in the Rocky Mountains for the National Parks Service. Old tragedies and new mysteries collide when a low-level criminal is killed at the edge of the park and two Colorado Bureau of Investigators arrive to settle the case. As they wrestle with Dean over it, a rookie detective and local reporter dive in as well, and together they uncover a criminal conspiracy- and the beginnings of a war between the rich people of the valley, and the struggling high country folks.

A wealthy couple is murdered by the remnants of the VYPER mercenaries still in the area.
