Sawyer Shepherd has been fighting demons and monsters for a year, mentored by Eli Romer and partnered with Mandy Jane. When the trio is summoned to St. Louis to investigate, they quickly discover that the killer is not just hunting innocent civilians, it is hunting a new supernatural entity. One that might be an ally to Sawyer, or maybe just a bigger problem.
Speaking of problems, fellow survivors of the Sage City demon, Lucius Furr and Lennox Dupree have also shown up in the Gateway to the West to open a new research facility. Tagging along with them is the very not dead Elena Cordova, who has taken on a new life as human/demon hybrid. Surely their arrival is just a coincidence?
